Wedding rings are an important part of the wedding ceremony and are a tradition that has been passed down through the ages. The placing of the rings on the hands of the bride and groom are typically the last act conducted in the ceremony before the bride and groom are pronounced man and wife. The symbolic act of exchanging rings is meant to symbolize the everlasting love that will be present in the marriage and the rings are worn to signify that the individual is married and will be faithful to the one that gave them the ring. The rings are traditionally worn on the third finger of the left hand for both parties, the finger designated as the ring finger.
The wedding rings are made out of precious metals to symbolize the lasting love of the marriage. There are several metals that the rings can be made out of, with the most popular being yellow gold, white gold, and platinum. There are also rings made out of silver, but these are becoming increasingly hard to find. These metals are used to create a simple band, often without any other features or decorations. In some cases, the wedding ring may have diamonds mounted into the metal, but this is not common for wedding bands. There are many venues available to purchase wedding rings for the wedding ceremony. The most common place to purchase the rings is the local jewelry store. Most jewelry stores carry a wide selection of wedding bands and rings in matched sets for brides and grooms. The stores carry rings in several different precious metals and some will have diamonds and other gems as part of the design. If the rings are purchased from a reputable, they should fit properly and nearly all jewelry stores will offer free resizing when the ring is purchased. Some individuals choose to engrave their wedding rings before the ceremony to further personalize the ring that they are giving to their loved one. In most cases, the ring is engraved with the date of the wedding and the names of the bride and groom. Some couples prefer to have more personal message inscribed on the inside of the ring as a lasting reminder of their love. Marriage rings can be an important traditional and symbolic addition to the wedding ceremony, a trend that will not end for many years to come. Wedding rings are just one of the elements of a wedding program. Next comes Baby Shower Invitations |
