Wedding Programs

Many people overlook the importance of creating wedding programs for their wedding ceremonies. A printed program of the wedding spells out the events that will occur during the wedding ceremony and provides guests with a lasting reminder of the special day. These programs are not expensive to make and may even be easily created by the individuals hosting the event. Many couples use programs of the wedding to allow guests to follow along and anticipate what will happen next in the wedding ceremony. Others use the programs as treasured keepsakes and a lasting reminder of the event. There are many reasons to include programs in planning for the wedding, all of them beneficial to the guests that attend.

The information generally used to create the wedding programs is as varied as the programs themselves. Some couples choose to include every single step that occurs during the wedding, while others choose to include just the major portions of the ceremony. Some couples list every participant in the ceremony in the programs while others do not use any names except those of the bride, groom, and the couple’s parents. Which information should be included in the programs and which information should be left out should be jointly decided between the bride and groom to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings.

The style of the wedding programs should be chosen to reflect the tone of the occasion. Formal weddings should have programs created in a classic style, using embossing and calligraphy to enhance the look of the programs. More casual events may choose to use less formal programs, incorporating pictures of the bride and groom along with traditional wedding images such as birds, bells, and flowers. The programs may be created with a white background or the colors may be coordinated with the colors used in the wedding.

There are many different styles of wedding programs available for individuals to use for their wedding ceremony. They can be purchased as a blank on which the information can be printed at a later date or custom printed to incorporate all of the elements that the happy couple would like to include in the program. Wedding programs are a nice touch to enhance the experience of attending a wedding, and with a little consideration, the happy couple can make a keepsake that may be enjoyed for many years to some.
