Many couples use wedding poetry for the readings during their marriage ceremonies. Wedding poetry is generally classic, romantic poetry that is read during the wedding ceremony by a member of the wedding party. The poetry that is chosen for the readings should reflect the tone and style of the wedding. If the tone of the wedding is casual and lighthearted, then the poems chosen to be read at the wedding ceremony should reflect the same tone. On the other hand, if the tone of the wedding is very formal, then the poems chosen should be classic and formal as well. By keeping the tone of the wedding in mind when choosing the reading, you ensure that the transition from ceremony to poetry and back will not be awkward and will flow seamlessly.

A search for appropriate poetry turns up numerous sites that have done most of the legwork of searching through thousands of poems for the ones that best reflect the love and romance experienced by many individuals during their wedding. Choosing the right poetry can be time consuming, but the effect that it will have on the wedding ceremony will be dramatic and add romance to an already beautiful ceremony.
