Valentine Love Poems

Valentine love poems have been around for centuries. In fact, mankind has historically been quite verbally expressive when it comes to romantic love. For instance, look at how many of today’s songs deal with some aspect of love, and songs are simply poems put to music.

Some of the more famous valentine love poems were written long ago but poets gifted in putting just the right words together to express their love. While some of the wording may seem a bit archaic, the sentiment is still just as vital and warm as when pen first touched paper.

Here is just a glimpse of some of those well-known love poems:

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight…
~Elizabeth Barrett Browning

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies…
~Lord Bryon

If ever two were one, then surely we
If ever man were lov’d by wife, then thee…
~Ann Bradstreet

All love, at first, like generous wine,
Ferments and frets until ‘tis fine…
~Samuel Butler

Never so happily in one
Did heaven and earth combine;
And yet ‘tis flesh and blood alone
That makes her so divine
~Thomas D’Urfey

O, my luve’s like a red red rose
That’s newly sprung in June
O my luve’s like a melodie
That’s sweetly played in tune
~Robert Burns

Come live with me and be my Love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
~Christopher Marlowe

If you are looking for the most romantic words to tell your Love how you feel, then Valentine love poems may not be what you are looking for. What is really going to impress your sweetheart is if you write down a few words the speak from your heart exactly how you feel. No one’s going to care if they rhyme or not, what is going to matter is that the words reveal something that you normally keep hidden.
