Summer Party Themes

Now is the time to be thinking about summer party themes for your next party. Before ordering your invitations, you need to decide on a theme for your summer party. After all, the invitation will set the tone for the party and build anticipation among those you have invited.

Adult Summer Party Ideas

Anytime during the summer one can throw a Backyard BBQ with a western theme, a Pool-side Luau with tiki lamps or an elegant Night under Lights with trees draped in twinkle lights.

The first part of June will often see party themes geared around college and high school graduation. These graduation parties are often decorated with school colors and a theme of success and moving on to the next stage in life.

Often summer party themes are determined by the date of the event. For instance if your party is going to be around the first part of July, then the patriotic, red white and blue, July 4th Party theme is almost a given.

Kids Summer Party Themes

A Sparkle it Up Party is a super fun kids party to have around the 4th of July, especially in the evening when the kids can wave their sparklers, wear those fun lighted necklaces and bracelets.

Catch the Light Party - If you live in an area where lightening bugs flit about, you can give each child a plastic jar and lids in which you’ve already drilled a couple of air holes. Then have a contest to see which child can catch the most lightening bugs for a prize, before releasing the bugs into the backyard.

Two-Part Garden Party

A late spring/early summer Plant-a-Garden Party where your child’s friends gather to plant a garden is great fun for children who may not realize exactly where the vegetables they eat come from. Give them a choice of different vegetable seed packets, such as lettuce, carrots, peas, corn and beans. Then let each child plant their seeds in small pre-designated spots in your garden.

Then in late summer, just before school starts, invited the kids back for a Harvest Party where they get to pick the produce of the seeds they planted. Then they can make salads and dinner, and take home a small bag of their produce. This is a great way to teach children the joy of planting and harvesting and helping their family with the food they grew.
