Give them a choice of different vegetable seed packets, such as lettuce, carrots, peas, corn and beans. Then let each child plant their seeds in small pre-designated spots in your garden.

Then in late summer, just before school starts, invited the kids back for a Harvest Party where they get to pick the produce of the seeds they planted. Then they can make salads and dinner, and take home a small bag of their produce. This is a great way to teach children the joy of planting and harvesting and helping their family with the food they grew.
