Religious Birth Announcements

Some parents choose to use religious birth announcements to introduce their newborn to friends and family. While certain religions have different rituals and customs following the birth of a baby, usually those do not extend to the birth announcement.

There are some online sites where one can obtain announcements designed specifically around a particular religious expression. There one may find birth announcements not only for those of the Judeo-Christian faith, as well as Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Birth Announcements

While most new parents select birth announcement wording that does not reflect a particular religious affiliation, there are some that choose to reflect their faith by a small verse or quote. Some of the phrases that appear most frequently in religious birth announcements usually express the parents’ thanks for the blessing of the birth of their child.

From the Bible there are several verses that are suitable for announcing the birth of a child. Such as:

“Every good and perfect gift is from above.” James 1:17
“We prayed for this child and the Lord has granted us what we asked of him.” 1 Sam 1:27
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Pro 22:6
“This is the Lord’s doing, it is marvelous in our eyes.” Psa 118:23
“Behold, children are a gift from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward." Psalm 127:3

Then there are the phrases that express appreciation for the blessing of a baby, without being specifically from a particular religious text. Such as:

“Our heart whispered his/her name and God answered”
“From God’s loving arms to ours”
    “From God’s hands to ours”
“All of God’s grace, in one sweet little face!”
“We welcome with love our gift from above”
“We have been blessed with this gift from God”
“We prayed for a child and God heard our prayer”
“Babies are the greatest of all God’s blessings”
“God has blessed us with a precious daughter/son”

Whatever your faith or beliefs you may choose religious birth announcements as an expression of thankfulness for the blessing you have received. Remember, whatever your faith, the birth announcement wording is a way of sharing your joy with friends and loved ones.
