The most popular baby name 2004 list again leads with Emily as the most popular baby girl names last year that made it eight years in a row.  Jacob returned to lead the most popular baby boy names list for the fourth year in a row.

Most popular baby names in the list remain about the same over a 5 year period and begin to change popularity soon afterwards.   Some popular baby names such as John, James, & Michael remain on top popular baby boy names lists for decades at a time.

Popular Biblical names such as Michael, Joshua and Matthew remained in the top 10 this year for the current popular baby boy names data.

Emma, Madison and Hannah made proud parents of new born girls in the top list just behind Emily who has been listed number one of baby girl names since 1996.

The Top 10 Popular Baby Name 2004 List is from data collection from the 2003 SSA. According to the data from the previous year, Anthony and Elizabeth were the only two new names to make the new 2004 list.
