Parenting Style Survey

A parenting style survey is a tool designed to give parents an insight into their own particular parenting style. However, you need to remember that a parenting style quiz really is just a tool. It is not meant to suggest that any one particular style of parenting in the absolute best style. Indeed, most will find after taking the test that their parenting style is really a combination of several styles.

Below are examples of the types of questions you may encounter should you decide to take a parenting style test.

A question like: “I endeavor to make my child happy” will then require an answer that falls on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being “almost never” to 5 being “almost always”.

Another online style of parenting style quiz asks questions that fall into two categories. Under the “Belief” category you may find a question like: “It’s better to give in and keep the peace, than to stand your ground and start a fight.” The question is then answered on a five-point scale between “strongly disagree” to “strongly disagree”.

In the same parenting test, under the “Actions” category, you might encounter a question such as “my child doesn’t have chores, but may agree to help if asked.” All of the “Beliefs” and “Actions” questions fall under three different styles; autocratic, permissive and active. The totals for Belief-autocratic and Action-autocratic are sub-totaled and a combined total is given for each parenting style survey.
