Modern Holiday Cards

Modern holiday cards are quickly gaining in popularity with those that consider themselves to be fashionable and sophisticated. Gone are the days of greeting cards with images of snow covered cabins and decorated Christmas trees as the main images. Now many are choosing greeting cards with more abstract and cultural designs, much like images of modern art.

Modern holiday cards are not for everyone. Many prefer the old fashioned style of greeting cards more than the more modern designs. There are certain images that will always be associated with the winter holiday season and it is hard to divorce some from the notion that a holiday card should have easily recognizable holiday images as the main focus of the card.

This is not to say that contemporary holiday cards are not designed to include traditional holiday images, just that the images on the card may need to be artistically interpreted by the recipient of the card. For example, the main image of the card may be a star, but the star may be made out of stark lines or glitter streams to give the star a more artistic look. A Christmas tree may be nothing more than a shadowy line with brightly colored baubles located in random places along the lines.

There are several different places where someone may find holiday cards with a modern design to send to their friends and family. One place that will have the cards each holiday season is one of the last places that many people would look for the cards. The art museum in the city that you live in will typically have a holiday collection from one of the artists that are featured in the museum available for sale during the winter holiday.

Those holiday cards that may be found in the local museum will generally be located in the museum’s gift shop along with many other artistic items. The selection of cards may be very small, limited to less than ten different styles or designs, but the cards available here are cards that you will not be able to find anywhere else. Many museum visitors choose to purchase these cards during their normal visit to the museum.

Another place where individuals may be able to find exciting modern holiday cards is on the internet. There are hundreds of independent artists and greeting card manufacturers that expand their business by offering their designs online. Shoppers that search online for the cards will find that they have a much larger selection while shopping from the comfort of their own home. They like the fact that the contemporary holiday cards are delivered straight to their home without them having to leave the house to search for them.
