Giving Birth Stories

Giving birth stories begin to fly fast and furious if you get a group of experienced mothers together and bring in one young woman who is pregnant for the first time. Within minutes one of the mothers will begin to tell what she went through with the birth of one, if not all, of her children. While not all of the giving birth stories told are funny, they are all true and give us a look into how others felt on the occasion of their child's birth.

Here are some of the giving birth stories we heard when we asked some mothers to tell us their giving birth stories.

Giving Birth Stories:

  • Contractions? I'm only 7 1/2 months! I can't be having the baby yet! Tonight is my shower...I want to be present! Called the doctor and he prescribed some meds to keep the contractions at bay for 24 hours. Shower was a success, family BBQ afterwards was a success but the pains started again. I went home with my parents as they lived closer to the hospital - at 1:00 am my water broke and away we went! My 4-pound 5-ounce son was born at 4:30 am. He was perfect in every way and so healthy for such a little guy; beautiful pink skin and no splotches. Giving birth to him was one of the best days of my life!
  • My nine-month pregnancy period was very good. I didn’t have any kind of complications. My delivery pains didn’t start at home. On the due I went to the hospital to get admitted. I was very scared and was literally crying while my husband was making the arrangements. Doctors tried to induce artificial pains. They had to medicate me twice because pains didn’t start after the first dose. The pains were mild. They had to be more severe before they could take me to the labor room. I was not in much pain but I was worried all the time. Thereafter the severe pains started and I tried to mediate and think about the whole mighty. After four hours of severe pains I was taken to the labor room. Then I gave birth to a baby girl and I felt so relaxed. It took be about twenty-fours after I got admitted to deliver a baby. I felt I have suddenly grown up; I am a mother of a child and I have to take care of her.
  • My son was born October 30, 1997. He was a week early and I was super scared. I was frightened by the hospital rooms and doctors and wires stuck to me. I had to have an epidural and unfortunately it didn't work the first time...so 10 times and 20 needle sticks later it went in. I was in so much pain but was so ready just to get the baby out. I cried and cried and finally smiled after 29 hours of labor. He was here. And what a beautiful baby he was!!
  • Although I was very excited to be giving birth to my daughter, I think that the greatest emotion I felt was fear. My husband was military, and we were living in a small village in England at the time. I was away from all friends and family and due to regulations at the time I had to use the British hospital system. I was weighed in Stones instead of pounds and the hospital facility seemed like something that was left over from WWII. I had no real idea as what was going on, or what was in store after it was all over. I am thankful for the mid-wife program that they had there that assisted with all of the new mom things, once I returned home. That set my mind at ease and helped me really enjoy learning to be a mom.

We received so many giving birth stories that we divided them into several pages..
