Think of a color scheme that you like for the decorations. While this is pretty easy if you know whether the baby is going to be a boy or girl (most mothers would prefer blue for boys and pink for girls). However, sometimes you just don't know ahead of time. In that case, pick a more neutral color. Yellow is often used as a neutral color. You should almost always choose light colors and use a lot of white. If you do this, then the decorations should look fine.

While you can always buy some decorations, like streamers and balloons, it really shows how much you care if you go out of your way to do some extra decorating on your own. You can do this by making designs out of streamers or by creatively arranging special party favors and plates.

Even if you don't necessarily have a decorating theme or the entire baby shower, you can still get plates that go together. There are plenty of places where you can find great disposable plate sets that have either a baby motif or feature favorite childhood characters.
