Baby Photo Announcements

The importance of baby photo announcements should never be discounted, as this short story demonstrates: So you've had a baby. You call your sister in Idaho, 500 miles away. "It's a girl! Yes, she's fine. Ten fingers, ten toes. Bald as an egg. 7 pounds 4 ounces, 19 and a half inches. We're going to call her Sarah. I have to call Mom back, we'll see you in a few weeks."

Your sister, your closest sibling, is the youngest of your family and this is the first grandchild on either side. Therefore, she has never had any actual experience with babies. She takes out a ruler. "Nineteen and a half inches. Hmmmm...that's about a foot and a half, a little more. Not much different than a loaf of bread."

She goes to her kitchen and gets a loaf of fresh bread, cradling it in her arms, then thinks for a moment more. "But heavier! I've never seen a seven-pound loaf of bread. And I'm sure it would be wiggling around, too, and making faces. Oh well, I'll just have to wait till my visit to see little Sarah."

Now imagine a different scenario. You call your sister; give her all the vital information as before, but this time you tell her: "The baby photo announcements are going out in tomorrow's mail; you should have it before the end of the week."

Your sister does not need a ruler or a loaf of bread. Knowing that the baby is healthy, she checks her mail eagerly till the promised photo birth announcement arrives. "It's Sarah! Oh, she's so tiny! Her little hands are all wrinkled, but it looks like she's got a tight grip. I cannot believe she doesn't have a hair on her head. But my niece is still the cutest baby I've ever seen.

Without a baby photo announcement, your poor sister spends the first three weeks of her niece's life thinking of her as a faceless, bald, "it" with dimensions but no personality. With a baby photo birth announcement, she could be fortunate enough to see the newest member of her family in vivid color. Please, be kind to your family and friends: Send personalized photo birth announcements.
