Here are some questions to ask while deciding on a name

What do the initials spell? Is it anything offensive or undesirable?
Is the name trendy, or lasting? Is trendy good or not good? Keep in mind that the child may have many classmates with the same name.
Does the name have a meaning in another language, or a historical meaning? If so, is the meaning satisfactory?
What will the name sound like to a middle school student? Will they like the name 13 years from now?
Have you tested the name on a few people with respected opinions? What was their reaction?
Is the first and middle name 'compatible' with the surname? Does it seem to sound good when all three names are pronounced?
If the name were spoken to someone would they spell it as decided, or is it changed because it is 'cuter' that way? For example, using the name Harry and spelling it Herrie will cause lifelong misspellings of the name. It might be best to use the 'traditional' spelling of the name instead.
Are there any well known people with the name? Will this cause a problem for the child growing up?
Some parents choose to name their baby one thing with intentions of calling the baby by another. Is this the best idea? Often times this occurs because the parents are using a family name. Could the family name be used as a middle name instead?
